Who we are.
Msichana Uganda is a women-led organization committed to empowering girls, young women, and women across Uganda through advocacy, capacity development, and civic education. We believe that women and girls are central to national transformation and sustainable development, yet their contributions are often overlooked or undervalued.
Driven by the values of inclusivity, leadership, and opportunity, we work to amplify women’s voices, strengthen their potential, and create pathways for meaningful participation in society. Through community engagement, education, and empowerment initiatives, we strive to build a future where every girl and woman can thrive, lead confidently, and contribute fully to Uganda’s growth and development.
Thematic Areas.
Menstrual Hygiene - Pad Every Girl
We focus is on promoting menstrual health and hygiene among girls in Uganda while striving to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) considerations.
Through our Sanitary Hygiene Initiative, Msichana Uganda is not only addressing the immediate menstrual hygiene needs of girls but also contributing to broader SDGs and WASH considerations. Join us in our mission to promote menstrual health and hygiene, empower girls, and create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
Women & Girls in Climate Action
At Msichana Uganda, we recognize the critical role that women and girls play in addressing climate change and building resilient communities. Our Women & Girls in Climate Change Program focuses on empowering women and girls to become agents of change in mitigating the effects of climate change and adapting to its impacts. Through a combination of education, advocacy, and community engagement, we strive to promote gender-responsive climate action and ensure that women and girls are central to efforts to create a more sustainable and equitable future.
Combating Female Genital Mutilation
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) stands as a haunting testament to the enduring injustice faced by countless girls and women worldwide. It is a barbaric practice, robbing innocent girls of their right to bodily autonomy, dignity, and future free from pain. FGM, entrenched in harmful gender norms and archaic traditions, inflicts irreversible physical and psychological scars, shattering dreams and leaving deep wounds that transcend generations.
Education & Skilling
We are breaking this by educating young women right from school, about their rights and responsibilities. We are also working with men to educate fellow men on the different forms of violence against women that they perhaps did not know. This includes one of the most common amongst men – reproductive coercion.
